What is the difference between a butterfly valve and a gate valve
The opening and closing part of the butterfly valve is a disc shape, and the valve that rotates around a fixed axis in the valve body is called a butterfly valve. Butterfly valve has simple structure, light weight, small flow resistance, and is suitable for large-diameter valves. However, due to sealing structure and material problems, it is currently used for low pressure (such as water system valves)

The gate valve has good sealing performance and low fluid resistance. The moment of opening and closing is small, and the opening of the valve can be seen by the lifting height of the valve stem (indicating the stem gate valve). The structure of the gate valve is relatively complex, the external dimension is large, and there is relative friction between the valve seat and the valve plate, which is easy to be damaged.
Butterfly valves are generally suitable for large-diameter pipelines. Gate valve transmission forms include: manual, electric, pneumatic, hydraulic, etc.
In actual use, when the pipe diameter is less than 100mm, gate valves are generally not used, but globe valves are used.
